Delegates’ Comments – My ACMUN experience

MUN was a great experience for me. Even though before the conference, I thought that I would not be able to participate fully in the debate. But when the conference started, I realized that it was not that hard. My favorite moments were when we made alliances, read the gossip box and gave the funny awards on Sunday. Every person I met there was incredible. I just wish the conference were not done digitally.

In this conference I was a part of the GA3 committee and more than happy to represent the Kingdom of Denmark. ACMUN created a platform to help us with the procedure and at first, I did not like it that much. However, once I got used to it everything was fine. I had a really great time and the best chairs ever. I am really looking forward to my next MUN experience.

ACMUN was a three days’ experience of a deligate’s life! It was very interesting and of course a great practice in English! It was well organized and that made me feel secure to express the positions of the country I was selected to represent current topics which the kids of my age would never be concerned about. To tell you the truth, it was a little exhausting but it was worth it!

It truly was an unforgettable experience! For several reasons, that is. The vastly different skill levels between the participants fascinated me, as the abilities of certain participants could truly be compared to those of a lawyer. And to think that these people are not even adults! The experience gave you the opportunity to participate in one way or another. Either by helping your team in creating the final resolution or debating. This way, nobody could leave in a mood of dissapointment. Even I, as a first timer, was not left out of the group and helped my fellow delegates in any way I could.

There were also fun moments, apart from the extreme brainstorming and debating. Moments where funny awards were awarded and moments were the participants danced on camera!

Moreover, the MUN desires to pass a message among the participants, who are most likely under the age of 17. During the conference, I worked with people of diverse cultures and ethnicities. This is one of the goals of the MUN, to connect people and prove that race and culture go beyond boundaries! Finally, I do hold the responsibility to admit that it was tiring. So many hours in front of a screen, exploiting all of my brain’s abilities. Hopefully, next year the meetings will be held live, that way, it wouldn’t be as tiring and would be twice as fun!

Thanks!

The  whole Acmun experience was very pleasant. However, some delegates had already written completed clauses, detailed and covered many aspects of the topic, which made it difficult for the rest of the delegetes without much of experience to propose our ideas.  Thankfully, we were given the chance to participate ιn the debate, although the chairs kept deleting our Points of Information, Motion for an Amendment and Placards. The “crisis” was something new and very interesting for us as beginners and we definitely know now how we should be properly prepared for an upcomming MUN. Overall, it was a fun conference and everyone was very helpful, especially with the platform with which we were unfamiliar.

Thank you for offering us the chance to paricipate!

Alkmini Bakaliou, Delegate of the Slovak Republic

In the beginning, I did not know what was happening. The second day, when I finally understood, I became more active and I was able to have more fun. Sunday was the best day I had lots of fun with my chairs and the other delegates.

I have recently participated in the 17th ACMUN as a delegate of Colombia in the Legal Committee (GA6). It was my first time and everything seemed to me very challenging but also very demanding.

In the beginning, I didn’t really know what to do. Thorough research was needed to learn about significant issues concerning the global community, such as the Privatization of Water, which I had never heard of before. This made it even more difficult because I should learn the policy of my country on the matter in order to prepare the Colombia’s Position Paper and draft resolution. This was an interesting and challenging process as it requires an immense amount of effort and work. I still remember the number of tabs opened on my pc just doing background research ….

At the opening ceremony, I have to admit that I was quite stressed and even afraid because I didn’t know what should Ι expect from such a conference. Since it was my very first MUN, I put lot of time and effort into understanding the rules of procedure and various other things that happen in a committee session. But as the first day passed, I was impressed of how great it is to take part in an MUN and meet others who are truly passionate about world issues.

Even though I didn’t have the chance to deliver a speech, I believe that this experience has only positive results for anyone who would like to participate. The only disadvantage is that MUN can be undeniably very tiring and difficult at times.

All in all, taking part in the 17th ACMUN was a valuable and memorable experience for me which I only gained from and I will definitely never forget!

So the whole mun experience was absolutely great. It was really interesting and I believe that I have learned so many new things during this project. It’s my strong conviction that every one that has participated in a mun has greatly benefited.

This year’s annual ACMUN constituted an extraordinary and unforgettable experience, which will certainly remain committed to my memory.  Even though the conference was carried out digitally, due to the virus restrictions, our efforts to co-operate with other participants were not frustrated. All in all, I strongly believe that 2022 ACMUN has enabled every student who took part to acquire valuable experience, as well as knowledge.
